Sony PXW-Z280 採用全新 4K 3CMOS 1/2 吋感光元件可提供兼具高端影像品質的深景深效果，實現高解析度、F12 高感光度 (59.94p) 及寬廣的動態範圍。4K 4:2:2 10 位元增添了生動的影像和精細的色彩層次。
還內建 17X 變焦鏡頭，支援 30.3mm 變焦到 515mm（等效於 35mm）。
1/2 吋型鏡頭配備三個獨立控制環，可手動控制對焦、變焦及光圈，快速進行最佳調整。在 HD 模式下，影像放大時不會出現任何圖像品質下降的情形。
